the son of Daniel D. Palmer, the founder of Chiropractic, makes
an adjustment on a patient. |
The chiropractic model of health focuses on the concept that the
human body is designed to work in a healthy state.
Chiropractic founder, Dr. Daniel D. Palmer, first suggested that
our bodies contain all of the necessary requirements to heal itself
if it has the opportunity to do so.
This idea is counter to what most of us were taught as children.
Most medical practices teach us that healing requires medication.
Chiropractic
practices just the opposite: the healing power comes from inside
the body.
There are exceptions of course, but the initial ideal is a universal
truth: bioelectrical energy from the brain, passes through the spinal
cord and nerves, provides the source of power in health. Palmer
observed that if the flow of this energy is stopped or reduced,
illness and pain will result.
Chiropractic
theory suggests that returning the natural flow of those electrical
impulses and returning the nerves to their highest function is the
most important building block to getting well.
Burki Chiropractic Center's healing philosophy has been built around
this timeless theory, as it has been demonstrated in patients for
many years.
Chiropractic is one of the fastest growing health care professions
in the western world.
Without a normal nerve supply, affected organs and tissues are more
susceptible to disease, often producing the symptoms of pain and
ill health.
Because of the way your spine is designed, improper motion or position
of spinal bones can irritate or choke delicate nerves interfering
with the function of the tissues they control. Chiropractors call
this subluxation.
